Fishing Methods:

Legal methods for catching fish are rod and reel only. You may use live, dead, or artificial bait.

All fish must be caught during tournament hours.

This tournament is a catch-and-release event designed to promote conservation and responsible angling. Our shared goal is to protect the redfish population and ensure a sustainable fishery for years to come. Anglers are encouraged to handle fish carefully, minimize time out of the water,

and make every effort to ensure a healthy release after weigh-in.

Angler Numbers:

Each boat will receive a number at the captains' meeting.

This number must accompany the fish when presenting at weigh-in.

Weigh-In / Scoring:

Event scoring is determined by the number of spots on both sides of a live, legal-size redfish. Anglers receive 1 point per spot.

All anglers must comply with Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission rules and be within

the Florida FWC slot of 18"-27" in a natural lay position with a pinched tail.

All natural black spots 11/64" or greater are counted, and a clear, distinct line must be visible between spots. All fish will be received and inspected by the Weigh Master(s).

Only one (1) fish per boat may be submitted to weigh-in. Fish must be whole, non-mutilated, and every possible effort must be made to ensure a live release. If verification of potential mutilation is required, the Weigh Master will confirm. Dead fish will not be accepted.

All fish must be brought in by boat. Once weighed, fish will remain the property

of the tournament until released.

This is a catch-and-release tournament. Respect for the fish and the environment is

central to the mission of the Spots for a Cure Tournament.

Tie Breaker:

All ties will be determined by the earliest check-in time.

In the event a placed winner is disqualified, awards will be given to the next ranked winner.

Protests:

Any protest must be submitted to the Weigh Master in writing within 30 minutes after the

closing of the weigh-in station on the day of the tournament. Only an angler registered in the tournament may file a protest. Each protest must be accompanied by a $200 deposit.
If the protest is upheld, the deposit will be refunded. If not, the deposit will be forfeited.

Decisions of the rules committee are final and binding.
